About Us
We are a not-for-profit serving the Greater Montreal area, dedicated to promoting the teaching and practice of traditional Chinese martial arts. Emphasis is on the Fu Hok Tai He Morn (FHTHM) system, founded by Kwong Tit-fu (鄺鐵夫) and currently headed by Grand Master Calvin Chin of Calvin Chin’s Martial Arts Academy in Boston, USA.
The name FHTHM is a composite of the names of the three traditional systems that we practice:
Tiger-Crane Hung Gar Kung Fu (虎鹤 洪拳功夫),
Wu Family Tai Chi (吳家太極), and
Mu Dong - Yat Hei Ng Hahng Morn (武當一炁五行門) .
Each system is taught separately, maintaining traditional form sequences, while offering complementary health and wellness benefits for the modern practitioner.
Our name Five Coordinations derives from the teaching “hand – eye – body – waist – stance” (手眼身腰馬), which refers to a level of mind-body integration resulting from long-term practice that is central to our approach to all three styles of martial arts we practice .
Instruction is offered by Sifu Eric Kolaczyk, a disciple (“indoor student”) of Grand Master Calvin Chin of Boston, USA. Eric has trained and taught regularly in traditional Asian martial arts for over 30 years, beginning with the Japanese art of aikido in 1992 and then transitioning to Chinese kung fu and tai chi in 2005 under the instruction of Grand Master Chin. In addition to reaping the various health/wellness benefits from this training, he also spent ten years as a competitor, medaling at various (inter)national tournaments in kung fu and tai chi bare hand and weapons forms, and in tai chi pushing hands. He is a Level A certified national judge for the US Kuo Shu Federation (USKSF).
“Traditional martial arts training is a journey, not a destination.”
— Sifu Eric, Head Instructor for Five Coordinations Martial Arts
